Now it’s Spam on Spam

Just clicked on the spam button in Gmail to check my correspondence from China, when what do I see? A “Web Clip” nestling at the top of the page for “Spam Hashbrown Bake”.
Out of curiosity, I clicked on the link and arrived at a recipe site giving detailed instructions for the said (sad) dish.
Could this be construed as Spam on Spam?

Today’s epiphany: Ads is SPAM.
What is SPAM?
1. Unsolicited material.
2. Consuming bandwidth (both data and time).
3. Filled with unwanted information, of dubious quality and reputation.
4. To which you will regret responding.
What are online ads (ala Google)? Well, they’re 1) unsolicited, 2) unwanted material, 3) consuming BW, and 4) always a threat for accidental clicking (or, click-through in the lingo).
Google is one of the biggest spammers on the web.

Good points, George. In Google’s defence I would say that their search facilities and free Web apps have to be paid for somehow. On balance, I suppose the ads are better than constant recourse to the credit card.
